This post is a comprehensively updated version of an entry I had posted here on May 10 announcing (prematurely) the “End of the Beginning” of Thailand’s democratic transition. As it turns out, the dispersal of the rallies still marks the “end of the beginning,” so almost everything that was said back then remains in this updated version. The post was adjusted (for the most part simply expanded) to reflect the fact that the “end” was markedly different (and, unfortunately, much uglier) than I had anticipated/hoped on May 10.
